kept runs on your iPhone. Your documents are stored and processed locally. iCloud sync is an optional Pro feature that you control. We don't operate any servers and we never see your documents. kept makes network calls only for purchases — see "Data we send to third parties".
No document data. Your files, their text, and everything kept derives from them stay on your device. We don't operate any servers and there is no kept user database.
For purchases and product improvement, a small, anonymous amount of usage data goes to our purchase provider — see the next section.
kept uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA) to process and manage "kept pro" purchases. What goes there:
Purpose: understanding which features lead to a purchase, and restoring purchases across your devices. Document contents, titles, categories, amounts, and free text are never transmitted — the usage values come from a fixed list of feature names in the code.
No cross-app tracking, no ad networks, no sale to data brokers. Under Apple's definition this is not "tracking", which is why kept never shows an App Tracking Transparency prompt.
Separately, Apple receives the anonymous MetricKit summary it aggregates from every iOS app — we never receive it.
All of the above can be wiped at any time by deleting the app or via Settings → kept → Reset.
If you enable iCloud sync (a kept pro feature), kept uses Apple's CloudKit to synchronize your documents across your own Apple devices. This data lives in your private iCloud container, end-to-end encrypted by Apple. We do not have access to it. We do not see it. We do not store it on any kept-operated infrastructure (there is none).
You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings → kept → iCloud Sync. Local-only mode is always available.
On iPhone 15 Pro and newer, kept uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework to suggest document titles, categories, and stack groupings. All AI processing happens on your device. No document text ever leaves your iPhone for AI processing. On older devices, kept falls back to local keyword heuristics.
kept pro is enabled for Apple Family Sharing — your purchase unlocks kept pro for up to 5 family members in your iCloud Family Group. Family Sharing only shares the app purchase, not your documents. Each family member uses their own iPhone, their own iCloud, their own kept library. We never see family relationships, member names, or who-shared-what.
If you connect kept to Apple Reminders (an optional Pro feature), kept creates reminders for due-date actions. This integration uses Apple's EventKit framework — we never see your reminders, only push entries via Apple's API.
kept does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13. The purchase and usage values described above are anonymous and cannot be traced back to a person.
If we update this policy, the change date above will be revised. We will not retroactively change the policy to collect data that wasn't collected before.
